Kim Kardashian is staying transparent on her journey to becoming a lawyer.

In November, the Kardashians star confirmed she did not pass the California Bar Exam she took in July. Now, Kim is breaking down why she chose to go public with the news before the results were widely available online.

Speaking with Time magazine on December 4, Kim recalled the moment she learned her score:

“When I got my results, I didn’t feel good about it. I was really uncomfortable and not confident for a while.
You get the results on a Friday, and I knew Sunday morning they were going to be live on the internet.”

Rather than wait, she wanted to share the update directly with fans herself:

“I wanted to mention it first and let people know that it didn’t go my way.”

But the setback isn’t stopping her. Kim says the experience only increased her motivation:

“I know what I can do better. I’m pretty good at taking a failure and turning it into something, and I just don’t have the time to dwell. You can feel sorry for yourself for a second, but I need to take that time and put it into studying more.”

The SKIMS founder is now preparing to re-take the bar exam in February 2026, continuing her years-long effort to follow in her late father Robert Kardashian’s legal footsteps.

Kim has passed several required exams already, including the "baby bar," and remains determined to become a practicing attorney.
