"If you aren't currently staring at your ceiling crying, are you even a Phoebe Bridgers fan?"
After six agonizing years of waiting since Punisher, our indie-pop queen Phoebe Bridgers has finally dropped her third solo album, Lost Weekend, through Dead Oceans. And let me tell you, it is an absolute emotional rollercoaster that is living rent-free in my mind.
From the very first track, Phoebe does what she does best: rips your heart out and serves it to you on a silver platter. The 16-song tracklist explores grief, fame, and some major romantic drama. the emotional lyrics about her dad, and all the juicy Paul Mescal breakup tea fans are spotting.
Fans are already losing their minds over the title track Lost Weekend. Phoebe casually sings, "I'm supposed to be married, but I called it off," which is a massive, direct nod to her 2022 engagement and messy breakup with Gladiator 2 star Paul Mescal. Talk about spilling the absolute tea!
She also seemingly addresses his new relationship in The Governor's Waltz, comparing herself to his past and current flames. The internet is officially in shambles over how beautifully brutal these lyrics are
But it’s not all about relationship drama. Lost Weekend is deeply dedicated to Phoebe's late father, Tony Bridgers, who passed away in 2022. Tracks like Still Standing and Never Going Back! (which literally features a real voicemail from her dad) are making fans sob all over Twitter and TikTok.
With production help from Jack Antonoff and cameos from her boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, this record is a cinematic masterpiece.
