Tori Spelling smiles on the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball red carpet after divorce

After finalizing her divorce from Dean McDermott in November, Tori Spelling is opening up about life after marriage — and the surprising peace she’s found along the way.

While walking the red carpet at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Los Angeles on December 5, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum spoke candidly to People about her initial fears surrounding the separation. After 18 years together, she admits she worried about the potential impact on their children.

“I watched families go through horror stories with the parents,” Spelling shared. “And at the end of the day, you created beings because you had so much love between you.”

But instead of the emotional chaos often associated with Hollywood breakups, Spelling says her split with the Due South actor has been “super easy and loving.” The former couple — who share five children — has settled into a co-parenting routine that puts family first.

“We do family dinners. We do everything together, so it’s really good for the kids,” she explained, noting that despite no longer being romantically together, the respect and care between them hasn’t changed.

Spelling also revealed she was surprised by how smoothly the transition unfolded. With tabloids long speculating about tension and divorce drama, many predicted a messy battle — but the reality star says that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“We love and care about each other so much,” she said, emphasizing that their shared history and dedication to their children ultimately shaped a positive new chapter.

The pair, who married in 2006, has faced public ups and downs over the years. But now, their focus is on creating a supportive environment for their children as they navigate life as a modern blended family — even in separation.

For Spelling, it’s proof that a divorce doesn’t have to end the love that started it all. It can evolve — and in their case — become a healthier foundation for everyone involved.
